Hypothesis
Toolkit complexity and diversity will be positively associated with risk of resource failure (252).
Note
Latitude and effective temperature (ET) are used as proxy measurements for risk of resource failure. The relationship is significant among hunter-gatherer groups between risk of resource failure and toolkit complexity (Latitude r-squared = 0.494, ET r-squared = 0.367) and diversity (Latitude r-squared = 0.528, ET r-squared = 0.445), but insignificant among food-producing (i.e. pastoralist, horticulturalist, and agriculturalist) societies.
