Theories of illness causation are regionally distributed (161).
Note
African and Circum-Mediterranean societies are more likely to believe in witchcraft, infection, spirit aggression, accident, sorcery, and stress while societies in the rest of the world are more likely to believe in ominous sensation, fate, organic deterioration, contagion, and soul loss.
